Gardeners with bunnies or guinea pigs, you’re in luck!
If you have a bunny like we do, or a guinea pig, you’re sitting on a little garden treasure. Their droppings make fantastic natural fertilizer for your plants!
Unlike many other manures, bunny and guinea pig droppings can go straight into the garden without composting first. They’re packed with nutrients that help your veggies, flowers, and soil thrive, and the best part? It’s completely free.
We like to sprinkle a few pellets around our plants or mix them into the soil when planting. Our garden gets a boost, and nothing goes to waste.
So if you share your home with these adorable little gardeners, congratulations — you’ve got a steady supply of some of the finest organic fertilizer around!

Plastic is everywhere, and it’s harming our planet, wildlife, and even our health.
It can feel overwhelming… but reducing plastic doesn’t have to mean doing everything perfectly. It just means starting with what’s doable. 💚
Here are 10 simple swaps that have worked for our family:
1️⃣ Reusable water bottles instead of plastic ones.
2️⃣ Cloth shopping bags in the trunk (and purse!).
3️⃣ Bar soap, shampoo & conditioner bars — no plastic bottles.
4️⃣ Bring your own coffee cup (bonus: discounts ☕).
5️⃣ Beeswax wraps instead of cling film.
6️⃣ Reusable bamboo cutlery for lunches & car rides.
7️⃣ Stainless steel safety razor — no more plastic disposables.
8️⃣ Plastic-free, paper-wrapped toilet paper.
9️⃣ Compostable scrubbers & wooden dish brushes.
🔟 Refill shampoo, soap & detergent whenever possible.
None of this happened overnight. We just started with one swap… then another.
You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to begin.
Which swap feels easiest for you right now?

Zero waste & chemical-free oven cleaning
Did you know most commercial oven cleaners are loaded with highly toxic chemicals? The fumes alone are enough to make you step back. That’s why we skip them completely.
Instead, we use this simple, effective, zero-waste method, and it works beautifully.
Here’s my go-to natural oven cleaner recipe:
¼ cup dish soap
½ cup baking soda
½ cup coarse sea salt
Warm water
How to do it:
Mix the dish soap, baking soda, and sea salt into a thick paste (add warm water as needed).
Using a gloved hand, spread the paste all over the inside of your oven.
Let it sit overnight, this is where the magic happens.
The next day, wipe it out with a damp sponge (use the scrubby side if needed).
Finish with a rinse of warm water.
That’s it. No toxic fumes. No harsh chemicals. No wasteful aerosol cans. Just simple ingredients, a little patience, and a sparkling clean oven.
Cleaner home. Healthier air. Better for you and the planet.

Back in my favorite seat, watching the world roll by 🚆💚
After the best few days up north with my favorite human, I’m officially settled in for the journey home, train mode activated, snacks ready, heart full.
Today’s travel essential? My zero-waste snack stash. Packed in reusables, no plastic in sight, and somehow it tastes even better knowing I’m keeping things kind to the planet. Sustainable travel just hits different.
There’s something about choosing the train — slower, softer, greener, that makes the whole trip feel intentional. Less rush, more views. Less waste, more care.

Almost 2 months into my no-buy project and honestly… it’s going SO much better than I expected 🙌
I thought it would feel restrictive, but it’s actually been freeing.
✨ Eating the food we already have instead of “running to the store for one thing”
✨ Using up cleaning + personal care products before buying more
✨ Making my coffee at home
✨ Getting creative with homemade gifts
✨ Walking more instead of paying for public transportation everywhere
We also do free activities, growing food indoors and write everything down: money in and money out.
Not only am I saving money, but I’m realizing how much we already have. It’s simpler, less cluttered, and way less stressful than I imagined.
It’s wild how much abundance was already sitting in my pantry and cabinets.
Anyone else doing a no-buy right now? Or thinking about starting one? I’d love to hear what’s been hardest (or easiest) for you 👇#thezerowastefamily #nobuychallenge #nobuy #moneyfreedom ...
