In my opinion, underwear should be comfortable and eco-friendly, with a hint of sexy. Ok, I confess: I’m an eco-nerd who loves sexy lingerie. It just makes me feel good ☺
Why is it so important to buy eco-friendly underwear? Knowing what is in the clothes we wear is as important as knowing what’s in the food we eat. The clothing business can be a very dirty business that wastes lots of valuable natural resources and pollutes our planet with pesticides and other chemicals, as well as risks its workers’ health. No, it’s time to give our underwear drawer a makeover and replace underwear that causes damage to our planet and our health with comfortable, beautiful, sexy lingerie made from natural, organic materials with fewer pesticides and chemicals. After all, they come in contact with our body’s most sensitive parts.
Of course, there are plenty of businesses focusing on better-for-you, back-to-basics styles; but where do I shop for comfortable, sustainable and sexy? Here are a few of my favorite brands:
Alyssa Wood has an etsy shop that focuses on ethically produced, sustainable lingerie that fits well. The lingerie is meant to compliment the body as it is, and to be comfortable enough to wear on a hike, to run errands, or all day at work.

Clare Bare lingerie is also available on etsy.com. She is a Los Angeles based designer specializing in fashion forward and eco-friendly lingerie made from organic cotton, bamboo jersey, and vintage fabric. Clare creates garments that are structured to flatter your body in a natural way without the use of constrictive hardware, and each piece is as comfortable as it is sexy.

Her signature style is that of sharp tailoring, natural confidence and sexy femininity. Stella uses recycled materials, organic cotton and new technology to ensure that all her products are kind to the environment. Stella, herself an animal activist and spokesperson for PETA, does not use any fur or leather in her designs.
Lilipiache uses natural, eco-friendly fabrics like organic cotton, silk and French lace to create designs that are flirty, fashion forward and comfortable.
