School Lunches Getting Healthier

Date

I think it’s amazing that school lunches still need work. For Pete’s sake, these are our children we’re talking about and of course they need a nutritional and good tasting lunch to be able to function and take in all the challenges of learning.

First Lady Michele Obama has for years been focusing her energy to improve school lunches and it has been paying off. This month new federal standards regarding school lunches are taking place. The new standards include calorie and sodium limits for meals, require schools to serve larger portions of fruits and vegetables, and mandate that all milk be 1 percent or nonfat. Requirements for the use of whole grains are also being phased in.
