Life extension specialist Paul C. Bragg and his family are among America’s health crusaders for natural apple cider vinegar (ACV). Their books and bottled ACV have helped millions by enhancing growth, health and offering a key to longevity.
For example, Bragg’s method for fighting arthritis is to drink an ACV cocktail upon rising made by stirring 6 oz. of distilled water with 1-2 tsp. ACV and 1-2 tsp. of honey, followed by eating an organic apple. At the end of the day, ACV when sipped slowly will relieve chronic fatigue. It also acts as a body purifier by eliminating toxins. Simply add 1 tsp. of ACV to 6 oz. of tomato or fresh vegetable juice, and drink between meals. For a healthy salad dressing, try mixing ACV with olive oil, honey and herbs. As ACV is acidic, it always should be diluted since it has the potential to damage the esophagus and tooth enamel.
Apples themselves are rich in potassium, which builds and maintains youthful tissues. The ACV production process involves freshly crushed apples that are given time to mature in wooden barrels. Through its brownish color one can see the formation of cobweb-like substances which are called the “mother.” Unlike the popular white vinegar that has been distilled, ACV contains powerful enzymes and minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, sodium, iron, sulphur, magnesium, copper, natural organic fluorine, and silicon.
Gargling with ACV will combat sore throats and laryngitis. Mix 1 Tbsp. of it with 1/2 glass of water (not hot, as that will kill the enzymes). Gargle three mouthfuls each hour. The mixture acts as a sponge to draw out toxins and germs, so be sure to spit it out. When relief is felt, extend the gargling to once every three hours.
For headaches, vaporizing ACV has been known to bring blessed relief within 35-40 minutes. For this, bring 2 Tbsp. of ACV and 1 cup of water to a boil. Turn off heat. With a towel over your head, take in ten deep breaths of the steam.
To ease the sting of a sunburn, gently pat the affected area with ACV.
Treat yourself to a soothing soak by pouring one or two cups of ACV into a cool bath. ACV can be patted on again if needed, followed by aloe vera gel. A warm bath with one to two cups of ACV will soothe aching muscles or help heal bladder infections. While bathing, slowly massage your entire body, starting with the feet and working upwards. Stroke your face in an upward direction and finish with a fingertip massage in circular motions over your scalp. When diluted in water, a little ACV makes an ideal hair conditioner.
Combat corns or calluses by soaking affected areas for 20-30 minutes in warm water with 1/2 cup ACV. Follow with a brisk rub using a coarse towel followed by a gentle pumice stone rub. Apply a full strength ACV soaked gauze bandage overnight. In the morning, prepare a freshly soaked bandage to wear all day.
For younger looking skin, try an ACV facial. Wash skin with hot water (no soap). Apply a hot water-soaked towel and leave for 3 minutes. Remove. Soak a thin towel in warm water with 2 Tbsp. of ACV for every cup of water, and apply to face. Cover with the heavier wrung-out towel that has been re-soaked in hot water. Lie down with feet elevated and relax for 5-10 minutes. Gently rub skin with a rough towel.
With exercise and natural foods, ACV will help maintain radiant health.
