Just little over 2 weeks until Thanksgiving and I for one are already planning for Thanksgiving dinner. In our home, we now celebrate Thanksgiving and all other holidays zero waste and organic and plant based vegan so with no meat and no packaging. In the past years we also focus on serving our guest sustainable and local food and since we do have an urban homestead lots of the food are homegrown and rest we buy at our local farmers market.

Many people assume a vegan Thanksgiving means just salads or some boring vegetables but our holiday means are warm, comforting and very filling, just like a “regular” holiday meal, it just do not contain any animal products.

When I first started hosting holiday meals I would get the  frozen tofurkey meals but over the years as I have become more confident in cooking vegan I do not use any processed food but rather focus on healthy cooking from scratch. However, I do think using meat substitute and prepackaged vegan option is a great way when you’re starting out.

If you’re considering throwing a plant based vegan holiday bash, I want to share my favorite recipes.

  • Neatloaf This is a must for any holiday dinner for my family. Even the most avid meat eater loves it.
  • Walnut-Apple Stuffing No Thanksgiving can go without stuffing, so here is a great recipe for one:
  • Mushroom Gravy I’m a huge fan of gravy and absolutely love this mushroom gravy recipe.  cranberry and pomegranate sauce
  • Cranberry and Pomegranate Sauce — Some claim that cranberry sauce is a dish most people don’t care for too much. I totally love it, but maybe that’s because I make my own. The leftovers are used on sandwiches.
  • Green bean casserole-My husband is a huge green bean casserole fan. Here is great vegan recipe version:
  • Creamy Mushroom SoupSo creamy and taste like fall
  • Cranberry spelt baguett It’s so easy to do yourself, and your guests will love you for it
  • These sweet potatoes are … well, so sweet and amazing, and work for everyday meals as well as holiday feasts.
