Of all the equipment in my kitchen, my blender is the one I use the most. A matter of fact, we use it a couple of times daily and even have brought it on vacations☺ Throughout the years, I have gone through my fair share of blenders and have learned that a weak blender is just not my cup of tea. I have gone from a “regular” blender to a high-speed blender. The good things about blenders are that they are very easy to clean as well as to use.
First, let’s talk about what a blender can do for you. The main thing I use my blender for is making scrumptious smoothies. A blender is a great tool for making healthy green smoothies packed with heart- and gut-friendly fibers along with all the health benefits of fruits and veggies. I also use my blender to make baby food, creamy soups, homemade “almost milk,” banana ice cream and raw desserts. Basically, blenders have come a long way since the early days of using them for making pina coladas.
On today’s market, there are all kinds of blenders that range from expensive, high-speed machines to moderately priced units that will more than likely get the job done. Take it from me, though, the best ones might be pricy but they are so worth the extra cost. In the long run, they save you money because you won’t have to spend more for another blender when the cheap one breaks after too much wear and tear — and this saves the planet. Picking the right blender for yourself depends on your needs, and what and how often you blend.
After many blenders broke, I invested in the Cadillac of blenders, the Vitamix. This bad boy can blend anything from ice, to nuts and hard fruits and veggies. The Vitamix is easy to use and comes with one switch, one dial with which to choose variable speeds, and includes a very handy plastic wand to help loosen ingredients or push them down. Furthermore, it has a seven-year warranty on new models and a five-year warranty on reconditioned ones. Unfortunately, the price is the only drawback because, depending on the model, the price ranges between $350-$600.
Blendtec is another great blender. It’s a bit shorter and lighter than the Vitamix, making it easy to move and to store in cabinets. The downside is that when doing heavy duty blending, it might start moving on the counter. It has a preprogrammed setting that basically does the thinking for you. It also can handle a full pitcher of liquid better than the Vitamix.
If you are looking for a more affordable high-speed blender, then the Oster Versa is good choice. It’s lighter but still very powerful and, for under $300, it’s a bargain.

Welcome and good luck with your blender:)

Maybe a different model would have worked better for you? I’m glad you still love your VitaMix. I really wanted to love it because of all the great things I heard about it, but, alas, no such luck.
