DIY Chemical Free Toilet Cleaners
Toilet Bombs
Okay, nobody enjoys cleaning the toilet, but these toilet bombs, made with just four ingredients, make it much easier.
- 1 cup baking soda
- ¼ cup citric acid
- 1 tablespoon dishwasher liquid soap
- 4 drops of tea tree or Thieves essential oil
- Silicon ice cube tray
Thoroughly whisk all ingredients in a large bowl until lump-free. Press the mixture into silicon molds and remove any excess mix around the mold. Dry overnight. Remove from molds and keep in an airtight container. To clean the toilet, place one bomb in the bowl, and it will begin sizzling. Voila! Your toilet should be clean.
If you would rather have a liquid toilet bowl cleaner, here is a good one.
- 1 cup baking soda
- ½ cup citric acid
- ½ cup distilled white vinegar
- A few drops of Thieves or lemon essential oil
- 2 empty jars
- Toilet scrubbing brush
Combine baking soda and citric acid in a bowl. Stir together to incorporate. Pour into a jar with a lid. Add distilled white vinegar and essential oil to a separate glass jar or bottle and store it alongside the dry mixture.
When you are ready to start cleaning, combine the dry and wet ingredients in the toilet by adding a scoop of the dry ingredient mixture and 2 tbsp of the wet ingredients. Let it sit for a few minutes. Scrub the toilet and flush.
